• Leboffe & Pierce Atlas was originally printed in 1996.
• The Fourth Ed. of Atlas for Microbiology Lab has undergone complete redesign. Many of the older images have been replaced with newer ones, and many new photos have been added.
• Re-organized content reflects the process a working microbiologist would follow to identify an unknown organism.
• Chapter 1 "Introduction" provides an introduction to microbiology and presents a future trends in the biological world. It also expands the justification for the book’s reorganization see the following paragraph.
