Key differences between 10th and 9th editions

• Period between current and previous publications: 4 years (2014 vs 2010).
• For the first time Saunders and Carman's Mathematics for the Trades book was published in 1981.
• As the previous Ninth edition, the updated text comprises 12 chapters.
• The former section 5-2 "English Units and Unit Conversion" is now referred as the "5-2. U.S. Customary Units and Unit Conversion"
• Sections 5-2 and 5-3 include additional examples and problems involving dosage calculations and conversions.
• Section 5-4 "Direct Measurements" offers new material on reading water meters, electric meters, ohmmeters, and dial gauges.
• The former Chapter 11 "Advanced Algebra" is now entiled "Intermediate Algebra" to more accurately describe its content.
• Section 12-1 "Reading and Constructing Graphs" includes graphs in which bars contain multiple sections.
• The former 1-1 "Working with Whole Numbers" is relabeled as "Reading, Writing, Rounding, and Adding Whole Numbers"
• The former 7-5 "Solving More Equations and Formulas" is relabeled as "Solving More Equations and Solving Formulas"
• The former 8-2 "Area and Perimeter of Polygons" is relabeled as "Perimeter of Polygons and Area of Quadrilaterals"
• The Calculator Appendix has been removed.
• About 350 new applications have been added to the examples and the exercise sets. Several outdated applied problems have been removed from the text.
• Chapter sections have been reorganized so that the applied examples now appear at the end of each section. The chapter-opening cartoons have been replaced with photographs depicting specific occupations.
